Watch: Olympics Gender Row Boxer Cries After Getting Assured Of Bronze

The Algerian boxer embroiled in a major gender controversy guaranteed herself at least bronze at the Paris Olympics on Saturday, bursting into tears after winning her quarter-final. Imane Khelif, who has found herself in the eye of a global storm along with another boxer from Taiwan, beat Hungary's Anna Luca Hamori with a unanimous points decision to reach the semi-finals of the women's 66kg category. The duo embraced at the end, before the judges' verdict was delivered, and an animated Khelif left the ring in tears.

Losing semi-finalists in the boxing take home bronze.

Some of the crowd at North Paris Arena, where there were a large number of Algerians, chanted Khelif's name ahead of the bout and cheered her into the ring.

Hamori, who had said it was unfair to face Khelif, was booed into the venue but was magnanimous in defeat.

Khelif faces Janjaem Suwannapheng of Thailand in the last four on Tuesday for a place in the final.

"This is a matter of dignity and honour for every woman or female," the 25-year-old Khelif told BeIN Sports after a second dominant victory in Paris, having dismantled her opening opponent in 46 seconds.

"The entire Arab people have known me for years. For years I have been boxing in international federation competitions, they (IBA) were unfair with me. But I have God."

Taiwan's Lin Yu-ting can also guarantee herself at least a bronze medal on Sunday when she faces Bulgaria's Svetlana Staneva in the quarter-finals of the women's 57kg.

Khelif and Lin were disqualified from last year's world championships, run by the International Boxing Association (IBA), after failing gender eligibility tests.

The controversy ignited on Thursday when Khelif needed less than a minute to force an abandonment against her hurt and tearful Italian opponent Angela Carini.

Carini, who suffered a badly hurt nose and was distressed, collapsed to the centre of the ring in tears.

Khelif and Lin, 28, both competed at the Tokyo Games three years ago, where they failed to win a medal.

They were then disqualified from the IBA's 2023 world championships.

The IBA said this week that the two boxers "did not undergo a testosterone examination but were subject to a separate and recognised test, whereby the specifics remain confidential".

The boxing in Paris is organised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which took over because of governance, financial and ethical issues at the IBA.

The IOC has leapt to the defence of Khelif and Lin, with president Thomas Bach on Saturday saying they were born and raised as women, and have passports saying that.

Neither boxer is known to identify as transgender.

Khelif's father Omar told AFP from their Algerian village: "My child is a girl.

"She was raised as a girl. She is a strong girl -- I raised her to work and be brave."

Meghan Markle Once Told Prince William To "Get Your Finger Out Of My Face"

A royal insider has revealed in an explosive new biography that Meghan Markle once told Prince William to "get your finger out of my face" during an argument about her treatment of the Princess of Wales. These claims came from royal author Rob Jobson in his latest book, 'Catherine, the Princess of Wales'. According to The Independent, the row erupted after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned from their honeymoon when Kate Middleton confronted the new Duchess of Sussex for saying she had "baby brain".

In the book, Mr Jobson wrote, "Catherine, according to Harry's memoir Spare, confronted Meghan about the 'baby brain' comment and said, 'You talked about my hormones. We are not close enough for you to talk about my hormones.' Meghan was surprised, according to Harry, and said it was the way she spoke to her girlfriends."

"William stepped in and apparently pointed at Meghan and called her 'rude'. Meghan stood up to him and said, 'Take your finger out of my face," the author wrote, per The Independent.

The "baby brain" comment was reportedly made by Meghan Markle after Kate Middleton forgot a detail about her wedding while pregnant with Prince Louis.

In his book, Mr Jobson also detailed how there were rifts in the Sussex and Wales' ties prior to Ms Markle formally joining the family in 2018. He also revealed that Prince William even banned the Duchess of Sussex from wearing Princess Diana's jewellery during her wedding. According to the report, he begged his 39-year-old younger brother to "cool the relationship" so the actress would have time to get used to life as a royal before committing entirely.

"William, still concerned by the match, even sought assurances from the Queen that his brother's bride-to-be would not wear any jewellery in the collection once worn by Diana, Princess of Wales, even though his wife Catherine had been allowed to wear some, which would be due to her rank," Mr Jobson wrote in the book.

One of the book's other shocking revelations included that Ms Markle's relationship with Prince William and Princess of Wales didn't start out well because she "ignored the royal hierarchy." "She had not so much stepped on royal toes as stamped on them," Mr Jobson wrote.

"When Meghan, who had forgotten her lip gloss, asked to borrow Catherine's, the duchess was 'taken aback' but reluctantly handed it to her. According to Harry, she 'grimaced' after Meghan had squeezed some onto her finger and applied it to her lips," he wrote.

It is very stressful. It is very depressing. I don't want to go through that.”

Talking about the importance of mental health, Hina Khan added, “Mujhe usse pehle hi jo mere control me hai, mujhe vo steps lene hai. Before shaving her head with a trimmer, the actress said, “So, here we go. Bismillah, may Allah give us all a lot of strength.” Towards the end of the video, we are shown all the chopped hair lying on the floor.

In her caption, Hina Khan wrote, “The pixie says ADIOS, It's time to BUZZ it off ! Here's another attempt to Normalise the hardest phase of this journey, aesthetically speaking. "Relationship Gone Sour": High Court Cancels Rape Case Against 73-Year-Old

The Bombay High Court has quashed a case lodged against a 73-year-old man for allegedly sexually abusing a woman since 1987, noting that the relationship was consensual.

A division bench of Justices A S Gadkari and Neela Gokhale on Wednesday said the contents of the FIR "clearly indicate a consensual relationship".

The bench also noted the FIR was lodged in 2018 and there has been no explanation for the delay.

"The parties were indulging in sexual relationship for as many as 31 years. The complainant has never breathed a word about her alleged objection to the relationship," the court said.

"This is a classic case of a relationship between the parties turning sour and thereafter the complainant lodging a police complaint," the court said.

As per the case, the woman had joined the man's company in 1987. At the time, the accused allegedly forcibly established sexual relations with her.

Thereafter, between July 1987 and 2017, for 30 years, the accused raped her at various hotels in Kalyan, Bhiwandi and other places.

As per the case, he promised to marry her, put a 'mangalsutra' around her neck in 1993 and declared she was his second wife. adding he did not permit her to marry anyone else.

She claimed that in 1996 the accused suffered a heart attack so she looked after the company.

However, in September 2017, her mother suffered from cancer and she had to take a leave of absence from her job.

When she resumed service, she found the office closed and the company gate locked.

When she got in touch with the man once again, he refused to marry her and also did not hand over documents relating to banking, income tax, an agreement related to a medical shop and the gold 'mangalsutra'. He also refused to meet her.

The bench observed that the FIR itself indicates the woman was aware the accused was married and continued to believe his assurance regarding marriage despite this knowledge.

"She is adult enough to know the law forbids a second marriage and there is no allegation in the complaint that the accused promised to divorce his first wife and then marry her. Even otherwise, this would purely be wishful thinking on the part of the woman that the accused will marry her after divorcing his existing wife," the court said.

In the past 31 years, there were many opportunities for the woman to break away and lodge a complaint against the accused but she did not do so, the bench noted.
